Regardless of whether you sided with the New England Patriots or are still hoarse from celebrating the Philadelphia Eagles and their historic win, we have some exciting news to jolt you out of your Super Bowl LII hangover: AMC has detailed the synopsis and ominous title for The Walking Dead season 8, episode 10.
As reported by ComicBook.com, the follow-up installment to 2018’s mid-season premiere will release as “The Lost and the Plunderers,” while the official logline teases a plot that will unfurl as so: “Groups unite their forces and converge on the Hilltop; Aaron and Enid search for allies.”
In light of this new intel, it doesn’t take a soothsayer to conclude that Aaron and Enid will survive their run-in with the Oceanside gang, though exactly where things go from there is anyone’s guess, as The Walking Dead community has been so pre-occupied with the impending death of Carl Grimes.
He’ll officially bite the bullet in this month’s “Honor,” which is expected to last for around 82 minutes in total. It continues a time-honored tradition of extended mid-season premieres (and finales!), while those worried that The Walking Dead is approaching its curtain call needn’t bother – in the eyes of Robert Kirkman, the apocalyptic drama won’t be ending anytime soon.
“I definitely do have an endgame,” he said. “But every time I mention that websites run with that and make it sound like its very soon and they get clickbait articles out of it, so I have to say that even though I do know what the end is and I am working toward it, it is very far off and that’s not something that’s going to be happening anytime soon so there’s no cause for worry. Plan on going for a good long time but I do know exactly what I’m working toward, which is important to me.”
Turns out The Walking Dead may well outlive us all, then. On a more serious note, it’s been granted a ninth season at AMC, and it’ll make history in its own right by electing Angela Kang as its first female showrunner.
