Allies Clash In This Tense New Promo For The Walking Dead Season 9

Rick and Maggie are at loggerheads in this newly-released promo for The Walking Dead season 9, which is due to make its premiere on October 7th.

A major sea change is about to occur on AMC’s The Walking Dead, and it’ll affect the core dynamic of our ragtag group for months – if not years – to come.

Not only is Andrew Lincoln’s Rick Grimes headed for the exit door, but he’s bringing Maggie Rhee (Lauren Cohan) along with him in what is sure to be one of the most heart-wrenching farewells in The Walking Dead‘s decorated history.

The finer details of each departure are being kept under lock and key, so we don’t even know whether they’ll occur during the same episode or, in the more likely scenario, if AMC and series showrunner Angela Kang plan to split things up to mitigate sensory overload. Remember when Carl Grimes was written out of the zombie drama last year? Just imagine that feeling of loss being amplified by a factor of 10…

But now that The Walking Dead season 9 is fast approaching its October premiere, another teaser trailer has been released onto the interwebs which teases a fiery clash between Rick and Maggie, two of the show’s undisputed stalwarts who are no longer singing from the same hymn sheet.

Maggie isn’t the only one upset by the shifting power dynamic; Daryl Dixon, another close ally of Rick’s, also confronts his former friend in today’s newly-released promo, which is really a pointed reminder that, on season 9 of the hit series, things are about to get worse before they get better. If they ever get better…

The Walking Dead season 9 will return to our screens on October 7th, and only then will we know the full extent of Rick’s finale (and Maggie’s, too!).
