Deathstroke

New Titans Season 2 Set Pic Shows Deathstroke In Action

I still feel pretty bad about how negative I was towards Titans. In my defence, everything about it looked terrible. The costumes looked cheap, the special effects were laughable and the trailers were way too try-hard. Then the show arrived and... it was actually really great! This version of the DC Universe quickly got its hooks into me, and since Titans I've eagerly hoovered up Doom Patrol and Swamp Thing. So, I'm very much looking forward to season 2 of Titans, which is currently being shot.

This version of the DC Universe quickly got its hooks into me, and since Titans I eagerly hoovered up Doom Patrol and Swamp Thing. So, I’m very much looking forward to season 2 of Titans, which is currently being shot and will be on the streaming service this fall.

In fact, based on this new set picture seen down below, one of the Titans might also currently be being shot. The sniper’s Esai Morales’ Deathstroke, who seems to be deploying a gigantic anti-material rifle in a car park. Presumably, he’s on a mission to take out the Titans by any means necessary. The character’s central role in the second season makes sense, too, as while the villain has fought his way around various incarnations of the DC universe, he’s still first and foremost a Teen Titans villain.

Of course, fans will be looking forward to Morales’ version of the character, if only to take away some of the sting of having their Deathstroke feature film cruelly snatched away from them. Back in 2015, Warner Bros. announced with some fanfare that Joe Manganiello had been cast in the role and that they were developing a solo film based around him. Godzilla director Gareth Edwards was attached and, for a while, things looked rosy.

Then Justice League happened. The movie introduced Manganiello’s Deathstroke in the post-credits scene, but it was a box office flop and took an intense critical beating, so that proved to be his only appearance in the DCEU. There were rumors that Deathstroke will appear in James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad (possibly played by Idris Elba!), but right now that’s looking unlikely.

So, if you want a good dose of Deathstroke (and hopefully a violent one given the goriness of the first season), Titans season 2 is the place to be.
