Tom Hiddleston Says He’d Play Loki For The Rest Of His Life

Tom Hiddleston stands as one of the longest-serving stars of the MCU. While the likes of Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans and Scarlett Johansson have moved away from the franchise over the past couple of years, Hiddleston has been playing Loki for ten years now, occupying key roles in Phases 1 through 4, and there's no suggestion that he's calling time on his tenure as the God of Mischief yet.

In fact, the British actor might never let go of the fan favorite character. While taking part in a recent Tumblr Q&A, Hiddleston was asked “If you were asked to play Loki for the rest of your life, would you?” After a brief second of thought, the star decreed that he “absolutely” would as he feels that the Asgardian trickster evolves so much with each new chapter in his story that he will never get tired of portraying him.

Watch his response via the video below or scroll down to read his answer:

“Would I? Yeah, absolutely,” he began. “I’m so lucky that I’ve got to play Loki for this long, and you know, I feel like he’s such an interesting character who’s been around in human consciousness for so long. And he’s got so many different aspects, so many different complex characteristics, that it feels like every time I play him I find out something new or we get to evolve him or take him down an avenue that we haven’t gone down before. Yeah, he’s been around for a while. I think he’s going to be around for a lot longer. Meanwhile, I’ll just hold on for as long as people want me to hold on for.”

When Loki died in Avengers: Infinity War, there was a short period there where we thought he might be gone for good. However, fall 2018 revealed the Loki TV series was coming, and sure enough Avengers; Endgame resurrected him via a change to the timeline. Though the first season of Loki is now over, the finale came with the revelation that season 2 is on the way, so clearly there are a lot more adventures from Thor’s brother still to come.

Often Marvel actors play it coy when talking about their future with the franchise, which is fair enough as it’s their prerogative to move on at some point and seek out other opportunities. Hiddleston, like Spider-Man’s Tom Holland before him, seems happy to remain with the MCU as long as he’s wanted. And, from the fans’ point of view, that’s definitely going to be for a while yet.
