UPDATE: An extended trailer has also been released, and can be viewed at the bottom of this post.
During the two-part premiere of 24: Live Another Day, which is currently airing, Fox gave us the first trailer for what is perhaps one of the most-anticipated upcoming shows of the fall 2014 season: Gotham.
The Batman prequel series presents the origin story of Commissioner James Gordon, played here by Ben McKenzie, and will follow him during his days “as a rookie detective in Gotham City, as he attempts to navigate the layers of corruption and strikes up a relationship with a pre-pubescent billionaire by the name of Bruce Wayne (David Mazouz).”
Though it’s under a minute in length, the trailer actually gives us a pretty good amount of footage, including looks at most of the major villains, who are all in the early stages of their careers. Judging from what we see here, it’s also quite clear that Gotham will carry a dark and gritty and tone to it, which will suit the city, and this story, perfectly. The trailer might be brief, but it’s definitely an intriguing tease and is sure to please those who may have been on the fence about the show.
In other Gotham news, Deadline announced earlier today that Fox has given it a formal series pick-up, which we all expected. Unfortunately, they didn’t give us an exact premiere date, but it will definitely be arriving some time in the fall.
Along with McKenzie, Gotham stars Donal Logue, Barbara Kean, Jada Pinkett Smith, Robin Lord Taylor, Camren Bicondova, Sean Pertwee, Cory Michael Smith and Zabryna Guevara.
