The CW has today released a new promo trailer for The Flash season 3 and it drops some more hints about what we should expect from the “Flashpoint” status quo. Showing Barry Allen getting to know all of his old friends and loved ones all over again, we quickly learn that his decision to alter history is having a major impact on his memories. It turns out that the Fastest Man Alive is forgetting that he has those powers as the new timeline begins to erase his old memories and replace them with ones from this altered reality.

Based on what else we see here, The Flash is going to have to decide if teaming up with Wally West to stop mysterious new villain The Rival is worth giving up his new life for, though it’s likely that there are even bigger stakes than that at play here if the show ends up following the comic book that this story arc is loosely based on.

We’ll just have to wait and see on that, but it definitely appears as if the stakes will be pretty high heading into The Flash‘s third season. The Reverse-Flash being Barry’s prisoner is certainly going to add an interesting new wrinkle to things as well, especially as we know that he’ll be a member of the Legion of Doom in Legends of Tomorrow season 2.
