The new additions to the cast of the sixth season of HBO’s Game Of Thrones are coming in slowly but surely, and the latest is Freddie Stroma (UnREAL), who’ll be playing a character that’s only briefly mentioned in George R.R. Martin’s source novels.

The leaked character breakdown from a few months back led to speculation that Samwell Tarly’s father and brother would be introduced next year, and that seems to have been confirmed, as Stroma has been cast as Dickon Tarly.

All we know about this chap is what Sam told Jon when relaying the story about his miserable sod of a father threatening to have him killed if he didn’t join the Night’s Watch: he’s younger, and a lot more capable, and based on who’ll be playing him, quite a bit better looking (sorry Sam), too. Based on their history, don’t expect this family reunion to be a particularly happy one.

Stroma joins Pilou Asbæk as Euron Greyjoy, Max Von Sydow as the new Three-Eyed raven, and Ian McShane in an unspecified role – though many believe he’ll be Theon’s other Uncle, Victarion.

Game Of Thrones returns to HBO in early 2016.
