Victor Garber Joins The Flash As The Other Half Of Firestorm, Dr. Martin Stein

Back in July, The Tomorrow People actor Robbie Amell joined the cast of The Flash as Ronnie Raymond, who becomes the DC Comics superhero Firestorm. Fans know though that Amell's character only serves as one half of the famous Nuclear Man. The other half is arrogant nuclear physicist Dr. Martin Stein, who serves as the disembodied voice within Ronnie's head when the two become fused together after a freak accident.

Back in July, The Tomorrow People actor Robbie Amell joined the cast of The Flash as Ronnie Raymond, who becomes the DC Comics superhero Firestorm. Fans know though that Amell’s character only serves as one half of the famous Nuclear Man. The other half is arrogant nuclear physicist Dr. Martin Stein, who serves as the disembodied voice within Ronnie’s head when the two become fused together after a freak accident.

Now, Variety has provided the answer to the other half of the Firestorm equation, and reports that Emmy Award-winning Alias and The Good Wife alum Victor Garber has been cast in a “major recurring role” as Dr. Martin Stein, who is described as follows:

“As one half of the Firestorm entity in the DC Comics universe, Martin Stein is described as a brilliant but arrogant nuclear physicist who has sacrificed everything, including a marriage, for his work in transmutation. After he discovers the particle accelerator fused him with the younger, more impulsive Ronnie Raymond, he races to find a way to separate the two before it’s too late.”

Garber will first appear in the twelfth episode of the season, while Amell is scheduled to arrive in week three. The news of Garber’s casting has helped fuel fan speculation that Firestorm is being prepped for his own spinoff series, and with an actor of Garber’s calibre acting as the hero’s second half, I can’t deny that the idea is incredibly intriguing.

The Flash airs on Tuesday nights on the CW at 8pm. Tell us, are you excited to hear that Garber has been cast as Dr. Martin Stein? Sound off below!
