Kingpin didn't fall for it.

Forget Thanos, the Black Order, Kang the Conqueror, the High Evolutionary, or all the villains from the live-action Spider-Man films pre-Marvel Cinematic Universe; no superpowered threat can compare to the onslaught that is the fandom and probe-happy journalists looking for that next accidental leak from one of the franchise’s many stars.

Some players are better at following these rules than others; Tom Holland and Mark Ruffalo are two of the more notorious open books, while Vincent D’Onofrio – who portrays musclebound mob boss Kingpin – has recently revealed himself one of the more ironclad members of Marvel’s roster.

In an interview with ComicBook, the Daredevil: Born Again star refused to give even an inch when asked if Kingpin was the one who bought Avengers Tower from Tony Stark, dancing around the question by saying that he himself would love to own (or afford, for that matter) such a unique property, but was otherwise unsure if Kingpin was involved in such a transaction.

“I know that Vincent D’Onofrio would be interested in that if he could afford it, but unfortunately cannot. No, I don’t know. I heard that too. That’s the first time I’ve heard of anything like that. I have no idea. Are you asking me if I think it would be really cool? Yeah, it’d be really cool. Totally. I would love to do that.”

It looks like the identity of the Tower’s highest bidder will remain under lock and key for another day, and as we salute D’Onofrio for his secret-keeping abilities, we can’t help but reflect on this obsession with actively seeking out Marvel spoilers. Imagine how pissed off so many of us would be if he actually did give us a breakdown of Kingpin’s Born Again shenanigans.
