Ahead of the release of Avengers: Infinity War, co-directors Joe and Anthony Russo told us that the human-robot romance of Vision and Scarlet Witch was the “beating heart” of the mega blockbuster.
And sure enough, the filmmakers dedicated a fair chunk of screen time to Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany’s respective characters, even if it all ultimately led to that heartbreaking moment where the former was left with no choice but to kill the one person she holds so dear (i.e. Vision) so that the Avengers could destroy the Mind Stone and, with it, the chances of Thanos wiping out half of all life in the universe.
It’s a traumatic moment on many levels, but fans needn’t worry, as there’s still more to come from this couple in the form of Vision and the Scarlet Witch, the upcoming TV series headed to Disney’s streaming service, Disney +. And now, thanks to Deadline, we know that it’ll be with us in 2019. Unfortunately, the outlet didn’t have an exact date to provide, but if it really is set to be here next year, production should get underway soon.
Plot details remain under wraps, of course, but as with all the other Marvel shows coming our way, the big question is how these two are still alive after the events of Infinity War? I mean, co-director Joe Russo even confirmed earlier this week that Vision is indeed dead. If we’re to believe him, then that means either the series is set earlier in the MCU timeline or, his death will somehow be undone. Which is what we presume will be the case for most of the heroes who met their end back in April.
Clearly, there’s still much to be learned about Vision and the Scarlet Witch, but it’s a safe bet that Avengers 4 will provide a whole load of answers when it hits theaters on May 3rd, 2019.
