Vixen Confirmed For Legends Of Tomorrow Season 3

The crew of the Waverider just keeps on getting bigger. As well as the regular cast members and the new addition of Zari Adrianna Tomaz (played by Tala Ashe), it's now been confirmed that Amaya Jiwe AKA Vixen will be sticking around for Legends of Tomorrow season 3. We'd previously guessed as much due to the character's appearance on the season's poster, but this is our first confirmation that she'll return as a series regular.

Though Vixen, played by Maisie Richardson-Sellers, was still on board the time machine at the end of last season, it wasn’t known for sure whether she’d remain on the show. Amaya was originally a member of the Justice Society of America in the 1940s and left her own time period to help the Legends track down the Spear of Destiny and defeat the Legion of Doom. With that accomplished, she intended to return to her own time – but was reluctant to do so due to developing a relationship with team member Nate Heywood AKA Citizen Steel (Nick Zano). It looks like those two crazy kids will decide that love beats the universe -threatening importance of keeping the timeline in check.

Fans will remember that Amaya is the second incarnation of Vixen to appear in the Arrowverse. Mari McCabe, as played by Megalyn Echikunwoke, first appeared in her own animated webseries before crossing over to live-action for an episode of Arrow‘s fourth season. Originally, the intention was for Echikunwoke to reprise her role on Legends of Tomorrow, but she proved unavailable. So, Mari’s grandmother Amaya was introduced in her place.

Legends of Tomorrow returns to The CW on October 10th, the same night as The Flash season 4 premiere. Vixen season 2, meanwhile, is currently available on DVD and for download.
