AMC is on an almost unprecedented run of success with original dramatic programming. Mad Men trumped all network dramas by earning 19 Emmy nominations, the mystery drama The Killing debuted to big numbers and was renewed for a new season and the drug fueled drama Breaking Bad returned on Sunday with strong critical buzz.
Now, the network is priming audiences for the return of another buzz heavy drama as season 2 of the zombie thriller The Walking Dead gets a new promo clip. It shows a desperate Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) bashing some zombie skulls in as he tries to defend himself. The violent, badass images will no doubt stoke fans who are eager for the show’s return.
The big question is: When is The Walking Dead coming back? The series went into production on season 2 in May and a recent report from Zap2It stated that the current production schedule could have the series back on the air as early as October for a split season, 6 episodes in the fall and six episodes in February of 2012. Other speculation has the series going for an unbroken run that would begin in February of 2012.
We will have to wait and see what AMC decides about the show’s return date but for now, fans will have to be sated with this tense, one minute teaser for season two of The Walking Dead.
