Along with Shane, AMC will also be bringing back Hershel and Sasha for season 9 of The Walking Dead. Though how they'll factor into things remains unknown.

Announced tonight during the show’s panel at New York Comic Con was that both Sonequa Martin-Green and Scott Wilson will be back on The Walking Dead this year as well, reprising their roles as Sasha and Hershel Greene, respectively.

“We were trying to lie and obfuscate for a long time, but we want to confirm that Jon Bernthal, who played Shane, will visit this season and come back,” showrunner Angela Kang said. “We also have the wonderful Scott Wilson as Hershel as well as our wonderful Sonequa Martin-Green.”

When pressed for details on how they may return, Kang simply said that we’ll have to tune in if we want to find out. And while it’s frustrating not having any further info, this only adds onto the long list of things that fans can now look forward to in season 9 of The Walking Dead.

If you ask us, it’s likely that all of these characters will show up via flashbacks in Rick Grimes’ final episode, with Andrew Lincoln set to bow out of the hit zombie drama at some point in the first half of the new run. However they end up factoring into things, though, it’ll certainly be exciting to have them back.

If you need a memory jog, we lost Hershel in season 4 when the Governor brutally decapitated him, while Sasha departed quite recently, as season 7 saw her take a suicide pill before she returned as a reanimated corpse. And as for Shane, well, surely you remember how he went out, as his was one of the more memorable exits the show’s had.

Anyways, as we said above, there’s a lot to start getting excited about for this year and it all kicks off when The Walking Dead returns tomorrow night.
