Who is ‘The Golden Bachelor?’

It won't be too long until we know for sure!

The suspense was furthered by the recently released picture of the mystery man, and even though the face is concealed from the audience, the back and grey hair of the new Bachelor are visible giving the impression of him being an older man than we’re accustomed to, thus staying true to the show’s primary concept.

What is The Golden Bachelor about?

As a spinoff of the original reality show, The Golden Bachleor is going to give an older crowd a chance to find the love of their life, unlike the original series, in which the youth was the focal poin. The idea to launch this new version has been going around for years, but could not be actualized due to COVID.

However, the day has finally arrived and excitement is building up as to what the forthcoming show has in store for the fans. ABC’s logline has certainly been promising, as it claims that the whole show is going to be about a “hopeless romantic” who “is given a second chance at love in the search for a partner with whom to share the sunset years of life.”

While it’s unknown how the show will be received by the fans, many who were in charge of creating and executing the show expressed optimism about its success. One of them is the TV Executive, Rob Mills who claimed the show will grab attention primarily because its diversion in terms of age:

“It’s such a different way of doing ‘The Bachelor’ because these people are just at a totally different place in their lives. There is an interesting thing about people who have hit the other end of the spectrum, who’ve lived their lives, they’ve raised their kids, some have been widowed or divorced and maybe some have never been in love. We thought that would be an interesting dynamic through the ‘Bachelor’ prism.”

Saying so, it must be pointed out that the immensely successful reality TV series is creative in its spinoffs; be it The Bachelorette which places a woman as the titular protagonist, or The Golden Bachelor which will be seeing a variation with regard to age. Overall, one can hope that the new series captures and delivers a similar fervor to eager fans.
