Who plays young Jesse Gemstone in ‘The Righteous Gemstones?’

Horror aficionados have most definitely seen the actor's face before.

The Righteous Gemstones has been around for almost four years and, with three seasons under its belt, it has brought plenty of different actors to our screens. Of course, fans are used to seeing the show’s creator, Danny McBride, portray the oldest of Eli Gemstones’ sons, in a series that sometimes flashes back in time, it should go without saying that younger actors are needed from time to time.

That is where J. Gaven Wilde comes in. The actor joined the cast of The Righteous Gemstones as young Jesse Gemstone during its first season, in episode five, “Interlude.” Later, he came back for episode five of season two, “Interlude II,” and again for episodes one and five of season three, “For I Know the Plans I Have for You” and “Interlude III.”

What is known about J. Gaven Wilde?

There aren’t details about Wilde’s personal life to be found online, but what we do know about the actor is that he has been making appearances in TV shows and movies since 2017, according to IMDb. He played a middle school student in season two of Stranger Things, before landing bigger roles. Nowadays, Wilde is best known for his involvement in horror films playing characters such as Moose in The Black Telephone, Dennis in Halloween Kills, and Jacob in Bad Candy.

Despite lending his talents mostly to acting, Wilde has dreams of becoming known in the industry for more than that. This is made clear through his involvement in Primal Taste, an upcoming short in which Wilde is credited as a writer, director, and actor, playing the role of Noah.

If The Righteous Gemstones gets picked up for more seasons, Wilde will likely reprise his role as young Jesse Gemstone in the show. Or, at least, we hope so.

All three seasons of The Righteous Gemstones are currently available for streaming on Max.
