“Love blinded me… but my eyes are open now, and he’ll never see me coming. So go ahead – let the devil out.”
That, from Wilson Fisk, is enough to send a shiver down our collective spine, so we can only imagine how Matt Murdock feels going into Daredevil season 3.
It’s pegged for a premiere on October 19th – a date it currently shares with a little-known horror movie called Halloween, along with the second season of Making a Murderer – with all signs pointing to a welcome return to form for the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen. That’s exciting enough in and of itself, but in order to fan the flames of anticipation, Netflix has dropped another promo for Daredevil‘s third season in which Wilson Fisk (AKA the Kingpin) issues a grave threat against Matt Murdock, the man responsible for locking him behind bars in the first place.
Wilson Fisk is not someone we’d want to antagonize, and you can almost feel the rage and anger emanating from Vincent D’Onofrio’s big bad in today’s stylish promo – a promo that honors the swinging light-pendulum effect from Daredevil‘s first teaser.
He’s lost everything since we last saw him in season 2, so we have a sneaking suspicion that Fisk will pull out all the stops in order to reclaim his throne at the forefront of Hell’s Kitchen. And in the words of Matt Murdock himself, darkness only responds to darkness, indicating that Charlie Cox’s sightless superhero will be journeying to some pretty dark and grim places – literally, if not figuratively – in order to thwart this old, resurgent threat.
All 13 episodes of Daredevil season 3 will become available to stream on October 19th. Three weeks and counting, people!
