Exclusive Video Interview With Cash Cash

Cash Cash might be relatively new to the EDM scene, but the New Jersey-born musical trio has actually been around a lot longer than most people realize. Originally starting off as an alt-rock/pop band back in 2002 known as The Consequence, the group consisted of longtime friends Jean Paul Makhlouf and Sam Frisch. Several years later, Jean Paul's brother Alex was brought into the fold and due to legal issues, they changed their name to Cash Cash.

Several years later, Jean Paul’s brother Alex was brought into the fold and due to legal issues, they changed their name to Cash Cash.

From there, the band would go on to release several hit songs that would bring them significant mainstream attention. It wasn’t until 2012, however, that they started to cross over into the EDM scene. With support from huge artists like Hardwell and Nicky Romero, Cash Cash quickly began to make a name for themselves in the dance community. In July 2013, they released their highest-charting single, “Take Me Home,” and from there, they really took off.

Currently, the group is riding the success of their latest track, “Surrender,” and have just completed a busy summer festival season, making appearances at EDC NY, TomorrowWorld, Lollapalooza and more. More recently, however, they stopped in Toronto to play a sold out show at The Guvernment.

Before the boys took the stage though, I had the chance to stop by their hotel for an exclusive interview. Alex was back in their New Jersey studio working on some new music, but Jean Paul and Sam were present and more than eager to chat with me about everything from the huge success of their recent single to making the transition from traditional band to DJs.

Check out our exclusive interview with Cash Cash in the video above and be sure to pick up “Surrender” if you haven’t done so already.
