'Oppenheimer' has become the worst nightmare for   Tom Cruise's upcoming 'Mission: Impossible 7'

Tom Cruise's biggest headache for releasing Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One turns out to be  Christopher Nolan's Oppenheimer.

Nolan worked out an unusually long run in IMAX theaters for Oppenheimer, dwarfing the length of time Mission Impossible will spend on the giant screens.

Oppenheimer, releasing nine days later, will dominate all IMAX theaters for three straight weeks.

Mission Impossible will only get one week on IMAX screens. 

And Barbie won't even screen on IMAX at all.

Last year's  Top Gun: Maverick  secured $100 million from  IMAX screens alone.

That means the short IMAX release window for  Mission: Impossible  will likely make a  financial dent.

Nolan's The Dark Knight marked the first feature film to shoot scenes using an IMAX camera.

The director's promotion of the brand over the years likely led to the sweet Oppenheimer deal.
