Although this isn’t the first occasion that the two vigilantes have joined forces in the comic book medium, it’s all the more special once you learn who’s on the creative team. Penning the six-issue miniseries will be Scott Snyder (All-Star Batman) and Steve Orlando (Justice League of America), with Riley Rossmo handling the artwork. If Rossmo sounds unfamiliar to you, you need only pick up a copy of Suicide Squad #9 in order to be sold on his ability.

In the past few years, Dynamite has found much success in crafting fresh new tales starring some of the greatest pulp heroes of yesteryear, be they the Shadow, Green Hornet, or Black Bat. The Shadow is obviously a good fit for Batman, especially when you consider that he served as inspiration for the Caped Crusader’s creation.

A full synopsis for the debut issue can be found below:

Two of history’s greatest vigilantes are reunited at last! Murder has come to Gotham City, and Lamont Cranston appears to be the culprit…but he’s been dead for over fifty years! Batman will go to the ends of the Earth to unravel the mystery of Cranston’s life, but the mysterious Shadow will do everything in his power to stop him from learning too much…

The superstar team of writers Scott Snyder and Steve Orlando and artist Riley Rossmo brings you a dark and twisty modern noir like nothing you’ve seen before, with a brand-new villain unlike any either hero has faced! This is the unmissable crime series of 2017, so get on board now! Co-published with Dynamite.

Batman/Shadow #1 arrives in comic shops on April 26.
