Capcom Announces Resident Evil 7 PC System Requirements

PC gamers, fear not! If you're looking to get your hands on Resident Evil 7 next year, it turns out you won't need a beefy gaming rig to give it a go.

While much of Resident Evil 7 is still shrouded in mystery, Capcom has pulled back the curtain on the PC version, specifically, with the game’s system requirements. As detailed on its Steam page, minimum and recommended system specs have been added for the game, though Capcom is quick to point out that these are still subject to change, as Resident Evil 7 is still in development at this point.

Taking a look at the minimum specs, the game will run on an Intel i5-4460 or AMD FX-6300, coupled with a Nvidia GTX 760 or AMD Radeon R7 260x, which is fairly low by today’s standards. Memory wise, 8 GB of RAM is required, along with any modern version of Windows (7, 8, 8.1, or 10, 64-bit versions only). These minimum specs target a rendering resolution of 1080p with a framerate of 30 frames per second.

On the other hand, the recommended specs target a full 60 frames per second (once again at 1080p), though you won’t need high-end hardware to hit this target. GPU-wise, an Nvidia GTX 960 or AMD Radeon R9 280x is recommended, although the same 8 GB of RAM is listed. When it comes to CPUs, Capcom recommends an Intel Core i7 3770 or better, although there’s no mention of an equivalent AMD processor. While the mention of an i7 might turn some heads, it’s worth noting that the most recent line of i5 processors have been shown to compete with older-generation i7s, without requiring any sort of overclocking.

Resident Evil 7: Biohazard is set to release next year on January 24, for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Microsoft Windows.
