Aaron Eckhart will play Dennis Wilson in Randall Miller‘s new biopic, The Drummer, according to First Showing. The film will chronicle the last six years of The Beach Boys‘ drummer’s life and the release of his first solo album, Pacific Ocean Blue, shortly after his untimely death by drowning.
“Aaron is such a finely nuanced actor who is supremely dedicated to getting at the essence of who this rock star was,” Miller said of Eckhart‘s casting.
Personally, I’m excited for this movie because Eckhart will be doing his own singing and drumming for the role. The film also has access to Wilson’s previously unreleased music and The Beach Boys’ discography.
Production is currently slated to begin in 2012. We’ll keep you posted as we hear more.
