Avengers 4 Directors Say The First Trailer Is Still A Ways Away

While it's understandable that moviegoers taking an interest in comic book characters would be anticipating any film to feature Earth's Mightiest Heroes, the wait for Avengers 4 is probably all the more excruciating for True Believers due to the cliffhanger its predecessor, Infinity War, left off on. Really, it's like having to sit tight for more than a year until the next episode of a TV show you enjoy will air.

So, while directors Joe and Anthony Russo have dropped hints as to what the flick’s subtitle will be and what the plot will entail, it stands to reason many of you reading this are champing at the bit for a trailer of some sort. Granted, we know it’s not going to be released in the immediate future because Infinity War‘s box office run is still in its infancy, but that does nothing to quell anticipation.

When speaking with ComicBook.com, Joe said he had “no idea” when the first trailer will find its way online, yet still hints that he and his brother may have a hand in assembling it – but piecing together the movie itself is their top priority:

“We haven’t cut any of the film together yet. We’ll have to see. We’ll get it set for the next two or three months.”

As Anthony chimed in, he not only reaffirmed what his sibling said, but also hinted at additional photography to come:

“Joe and I always talk about it, there’s this filmmaking adage that goes, ‘You make a movie three times over: when you write it, when you shoot it, and when you edit it. And so, right now, we have not edited that movie at all. So we haven’t even gone through that whole phase of finding that film. Not only that, we haven’t even completely finished shooting it. We still have to shoot some stuff to complete the movie and even though we’ve shot the vast majority of it.”

Knowing that Avengers 4 is slated to open in theaters on May 3, 2019, one would think the first trailer will be unveiled no later than November or December of this year – but it’s really up to the studio at this point. Regardless, we’ll keep you posted.
