Joe Russo Reveals The Most Accurate Avengers 4 Title Theory So Far

Aside from the plot itself, the thing about Avengers 4 that fans have been speculating about most is what its actual title will be. Right now, we have no choice but to place a numeral next to it, though we all know that Marvel Studios have a penchant for giving its movies subtitles to distinguish them.

Originally, True Believers expected for them to go with “Infinity Gauntlet,” but I’m glad that’s not the case because I feel it’s a bit too straightforward and mundane. Plus, Thanos has already acquired every Infinity Stone, so you have to admit that’d seem redundant at this point.

When recently speaking with ComicBook.com, co-director Joe Russo actually confessed that Avengers: Forever is the closest anyone has come to being correct in their guesses, with him jesting, “The actual title is ‘The Avengers: Almost Forever.'”

If that weren’t enough to keep us all scratching our heads, he had this to add:

“I don’t think there are any comics that correlate to it. I think we’re in pretty fresh territory with Avengers 4. If anything, I think it’s interesting after to go back and look at some of the Marvel films and view them through a different lens. But I can’t think of any comics in particular that would have value.”

For now, it’s understandable that all involved with production keep their cards close to their vest until everyone’s had a chance to see Infinity War. Then again, the first in the two-part epic is consistently setting box office records, so those who haven’t attended a showing must be few and far between.

While we strongly advise that you not hold your breath, let’s hope we learn Avengers 4‘s true title before the year is out. As for when it’ll arrive in theaters, you can look forward to that happening on May 3rd, 2019.
