Hot off this morning's long-anticipated trailer reveal, Collider has posted a series of screenshots that take us closer to Avengers: Infinity War.

“There was an idea: to bring together a group of remarkable people.”

They are the words of Nick Fury, Cold War veteran and founding member of the Avengers Initiative, whose legacy looms over the show-stopping first teaser for Avengers: Infinity War.

It’s going on 10 years since Samuel L. Jackson’s eyepatch-wearing badass first visited Tony Stark, and in that time, Earth’s Mightiest Heroes have come up against otherworldly threats (Loki) and manifestations of their own inner demons (Ultron). But Infinity War is about to take things to a whole new level, as Thanos (Deadpool 2‘s Josh Brolin) whips together the Black Order and plots course for Earth.

His target? The six all-powerful Infinity Stones that have been woven into the fabric of the MCU since its inception in 2008. Those dinky little gems (or concentrated ingots, if we’re being all fancy) are of paramount importance to Thanos, who seeks to bring balance back to the universe…whatever the hell that means.

Regardless, down below you’ll be able to find that gallery of HD screengrabs, allowing you to relive every moment from the trailer.

From a shell-shocked Tony Stark to the bearded Captain America (Nomad, perhaps?), there’s certainly a lot to digest, so let’s begin at the start, shall we? As expected, the Avengers will very much be disbanded following their colossal dust-up in Civil War – heck, the Russo Brothers have previously teased that Infinity War opens at a time when our heroes are at their lowest and most vulnerable point. Enter Thanos.

Flanked by the Black Order and a swarm of alien nasties, it appears the Mad Titan’s first port of call is New York City, while it seems Wakanda will also play host to an immense, CG-laden war. Both Bucky Barnes and Captain America are in attendance, so we imagine the events of Ryan Coogler’s Black Panther movie will leave the door open for the Winter Soldier to return.

Also of note, Black Widow is now Blonde Widow, Spidey is rocking the sleek new suit offered to him at the tail-end of Homecoming, and Vision has been left at the mercy of the Black Order. Perhaps Paul Bettany’s MCU stalwart will be the first to bite the bullet come 2018? The Russo Brothers do know who they’re allowed to kill, after all, so it’s really anyone’s guess.

Expect Avengers: Infinity War to take the fight to Thanos on May 4th, 2018.
