Avengers: Infinity War Writers Want Someone To Make A Really Good Moon Knight Movie

The Marvel Cinematic Universe just keeps on expanding, which means that Phase Four of the franchise should introduce lots more fresh faces and lesser-known properties that deserve their due. If you ask fans, one hero that should be right at the top of Marvel Studios' list is Moon Knight, a character who might not be familiar to general audiences but has an ardent cult following amongst comic book readers.

It turns out that fans aren’t the only ones who want to see a movie featuring the hero, though. Avengers: Infinity War writers Stephen McFeely and Christopher Markus spoke about their interest in seeing the nocturnal vigilante appear in the future of the MCU while talking with Kevin Smith on the Fat Man on Batman podcastIn particular, Markus said he wants a “really good” film based on the character, but admitted he’s a “complicated” one to adapt.

“Somebody should make a really good Moon Knight movie, but it’s complicated. It’s because he got really good later. At the beginning, he was kinda good but kinda cheesy, and then, later on, he got kinda awesome, but the awesome part kind of needs the cheesy part to make sense, so it gets very convoluted very quickly. But he’s Jewish which is nice.”

Moon Knight

We can see what the writer means. What sets Moon Knight apart from most superheroes is that he takes the idea of having a secret identity and then runs with it. Due to suffering from dissociative personality disorder, he has multiple personas, though his core identity is Marc Spector. So, you could do a Split-style psychological thriller, but then you’ve also got to work in his mystical origins which tie into Egyptian mythology.

A challenge it might be, then, but that hasn’t stopped fans from getting carried away with the idea of a Moon Knight movie. It seems the internet has collectively decided Jake Gyllenhaal would be the perfect choice to play the role. And while we admit he would’ve been great, Spider-Man: Homecoming 2 has now snapped him up to portray Mysterio, instead.

Tell us, would you like to see Moon Knight in the MCU? If so, who should play him? Leave your thoughts in the comments section down below.
