Though that sequence where Batman (Ben Affleck) promises to make Superman (Henry Cavill) bleed is apparently part of a dream in next year’s Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, a new rumor today may have revealed what weapon the Dark Knight will actually be using in an attempt to draw some blood in his battle against the Man of Steel. (SPOILERS – duh.)
According to Umberto Gonzalez (aka El Mayimbe), who has correctly delivered lots of superhero scoops over the past few years, Batman will be using a kryptonite-laced spear to take on Superman. That weapon he was glimpsed holding in the trailer (above) was apparently the spear and not a rifle, as some had guessed.
MORE NEWS FROM THE WEB
How Batman gets the kryptonite or whether he actually uses it against the Man of Tomorrow is still unclear. But the implications are clear – the Caped Crusader has been studying up on the Man of Steel, likely with the help of General Zod’s body or that Kryptonian warship, and has ascertained that the humanoid alien has a very clear vulnerability in the form of the green element from Supes’ home world.
Whether Batman teamed up with Lex Luthor (Jesse Eisenberg) to get the kryptonite is also a big question, as that villain will surely be trying to get one over on Superman using the substance, which he’s rumored to have a fair amount of.
As per usual, the scoopster doesn’t name any specific source for this information, and though his track record is solid, it’s really anyone’s guess as to whether there’s accuracy to the report. So much about Batman V Superman has been overexposed by the media, to the point that the superhero blockbuster will probably have been completely laid out for fans long before it opens, so part of me wants to believe that this isn’t anything more than a baseless rumor that will hold the web’s attention for a few hours then disappear for good. Of course, fans eat this kind of stuff up, so that may be a foolish hope.
Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice opens on March 25, 2016.
