Yes, you read that right. Mediocre actor turned fantastic director Ben Affleck is being courted by Warner Brothers to direct their upcoming Justice League film. Variety is telling us that with Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy now at an end, and Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel getting ready for release, the studio is gearing up for their next big project.

Apparently, Affleck is in talks with the studio and after having been impressed with the three films he’s done for them (Gone Baby Gone, The Town and Argo), they want him to helm Justice League. They’ve already sent him the screenplay and discussions are underway.

In case you forgot, Affleck was also, at one point, wanted for Man of Steel, so clearly the studio likes him.

In addition to directing, sources say that he may star in the film too, but which hero he would portray is not known at this point. Could we see Ben Affleck suiting up as the Caped Crusader? It’s a definite possibility.

Though this news comes seemingly out of nowhere, I kind of like it. I loved both The Town and Gone Baby Gone and Argo looks fantastic. Admittedly, Ben Affleck is the last person I expected to be on the studio’s list but the more I think about it, the more it makes sense.

Admittedly, I’d rather him stick to directing for this one. He’s not exactly a bad actor, but I just can’t see him as a superhero. He already gave it a try as Daredevil and that film was rather crummy. Though that wasn’t entirely Affleck’s fault. Nevertheless, I’d still rather see him in only the director’s chair, should Warner Bros. decide to go with him.

As always, we’ll keep you posted on the Justice League movie as more news surfaces but for now, head down to the comments and tell us if you think Big Ben is a good choice to helm the film.
