Benedict Cumberbatch Features In New Avengers: Infinity War Set Video

Avengers: Infinity War is by far the biggest movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe to date, as just about every MCU hero is turning up for the party. With set photos from filming on the streets of Atlanta now appearing online, we're starting to get our first taste of seeing these all these characters together, though unfortunately, nothing too significant has been revealed just yet.

Avengers: Infinity War is by far the biggest movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe to date, as just about every MCU hero is turning up for the party. Set to bring together all our favorite characters as they join forces to take down big bad Thanos, it’s without a doubt one of the most highly anticipated releases of next year and the more we learn about it, it’s becoming easier and easier to see why.

Still in active production ahead of its launch in May of 2018, the film is being kept under lock and key, though Marvel has admittedly struggled to keep set photos and videos – two staples of Hollywood’s superhero genre – from finding their way online. Generally speaking, those images have been free from any major story spoilers – so far, at least – and while we wait patiently for the advent of Infinity War‘s debut teaser, which may be here in November, we’ve now got even more set footage to feast our eyes on.

Seen above, the video focuses entirely on Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange, who made his stunning MCU debut late last year. It’s hard to say what exactly’s going on in the clip, and the fact that it’s blurry and out of focus doesn’t help matters, either, but at this stage, we’ll take what we can get when it comes to Infinity War.

From what we can tell, the Sorcerer Supreme appears to be in some kind of fight here against an enemy that will later be thrown into the scene via CGI, as there’s no one else there at the moment. We see the hero rolling away from something before being gripped and held in place. Who could be attacking him, though? That remains to be seen, but feel free to start the speculation.

There’s also another quick glimpse at the scene we saw photos of earlier this week. Or at least, it appears to be the same one. Again though, it’s tough to make out what’s happening – though we do see someone in what looks like a mocap suit, so perhaps that gives us a clue as to who Cumberbatch may be sharing the scene with here? Could it be one of Thanos’ henchmen? Or maybe even Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk? We’ll just have to wait and see to find out.

Avengers: Infinity War will apparently be unlike anything we’ve seen before from Marvel Studios – not only because it stands as the culmination of the MCU thus far, but also due to the film’s sheer sense of scale – and we’ll be able to see what all the fuss is about once it hits theatres on May 4th, 2018. It’ll be followed in quick succession by the as-yet-untitled Avengers 4, which is a Marvel blockbuster that will seemingly herald news of the studio’s Phase 4, beginning with Spider-Man: Homecoming 2 on July 5th, 2019.
