Naysayers be damned, Renée Zellweger and Colin Firth (no Hugh Grant, sadly) are reuniting for a third installment in the beloved romantic comedy series with Bridget Jones’ Baby, and a slew of set photos have surfaced for the film’s London set.

Coming by way of Working Title, the long-gestating threequel will once again be based on characters from Helen Fielding’s best-selling novel series, with Bridget Jones’ Baby welcoming Grey’s Anatomy crooner Patrick Dempsey into the romantic fray. Yes, love is in the air, and now that Zellweger’s titular, bumbling character is knocked up, we can only imagine the kind of shenanigans that Working Title has cooked up.

Keen to avoid the missteps of the first sequel (2003’s The Edge of Reason), the studio has welcomed back Sharon Macguire for directing duties, who helmed the cult classic all the way back in 2001. Working on a script she penned with David Nicholls (One Day) the writer-director has merely teased the actual plot of Bridget Jones’ Baby up until now, though we’re sensing an embryonic love triangle beginning to form between Zellweger, Firth and Dempsey’s newcomer.

Familiar though that may be, Bridget Jones’ Diary defined itself for its cooky, refreshingly honest style, tackling universal themes with a pitch-perfect balance of wry humor and genuine emotions. Long may that continue into 2016.

Now that filming is in full swing, Bridget Jones’ Baby is expected to make its bow in theaters at some point in late 2016. For now, tell us, are you anticipating the return of Zellweger, Firth and possibly McDreamy next year? Share your thoughts below.
