Christian Bale has added another project to his exciting slate of future films. The actor has joined director Terrence Malick‘s untitled project which is set to shoot in 2012. Not much is known about the film but Malick is currently looking at Rooney Mara, Haley Bennet, Clemence Poesy and Mia Wasikowska for the female lead, although no one has been chosen yet.
Although Malick only made four feature films between 1973 and 2010, it looks like he’s getting back into the swing of things, with quite a few upcoming projects in the next few years. He has an untitled project that is already shot and is set for a 2012 release date, with Ben Affleck, Jessica Chastain, Rachel McAdams and Rachel Weisz starring. The director also has Voyage of Time coming up, which is being narrated by Brad Pitt.
Malick may have split critics right down the middle with The Tree Of Life but it looks like he’s going to continue pumping out films, and at a steady rate, which depending on how you view the director, could be a good or bad thing. His films aren’t for everyone, but if you do appreciate them, then consider yourself lucky.
As for Bale, he already worked with Malick on The New World, so they clearly have a good working relationship. Plus, Bale is an absolute powerhouse of an actor and one of the best around. Although no details are known about the project, I’m already excited. There’s no doubt that the two will craft something truly unique and powerful.
