Cobie Smulders, best known for her role as Robin in the TV show How I Met Your Mother, is in negotiations to join The Avengers. If she joins, she’ll play SHIELD agent Maria Hill, sidekick to Nick Fury, who will be played by Samuel L. Jackson. Smulders tested for the role this week and apparently it’s all but confirmed that she will join. Director Joss Whedon has had his eye on Smulders for a while and apparently he originally wanted her for Wonder Woman back when he was looking at developing that project.
In more news,Tom Hiddleston who plays Loki in Thor, will also be part of the cast. Many people guessed this but until now it wasn’t confirmed.
Hiddleston and Smulders join an already all star cast that includes Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man, Chris Hemsworth taking on the role of Thor, Mark Ruffalo will play Bruce Banner/The Hulk, Chris Evans as Captain America, Jeremy Renner is Hawkeye, Scarlett Johansson plays Black Widow, Hiddleston is Loki, Clark Gregg as the SHIELD agent Phil Coulson and Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury.
