One Curious Zombie Leaps To The Rescue In New Day Of The Dead: Bloodline Clip

On the eve of release, Rue Morgue has unearthed a creepy new clip for Day of the Dead: Bloodline in which one zombie becomes the hero of the hour.

A twisted, cold-hearted monster features in this newly-released clip for Day of the Dead: Bloodline – and we’re not referring to the undead.

In fact, it’s a reanimated zombie that winds up saving the day, as Sophie Skelton’s heroine comes face-to-face with a sexual harasser (John Schaech) named Max. What follows is an unnerving exchange between Skelton and Schaech’s respective survivors, before the latter makes an unwanted advance.

Whether intentional or not, this Bloodline clip, one which arrives on the eve or release, appears to be ripped straight from the headlines, with the only difference being that a flesh-munching zombie arrives just in time to thwart an attempted rape. Because who said the undead always have to be portrayed as the bad guys?

Story-wise, Day of the Dead: Bloodline takes place in a “post-apocalyptic, zombie-filled world where a former med school student is tormented by a dark figure from her past. The only thing is, he’s a half-human, half-zombie hell-bent on destroying her world.” And now, let’s take a moment to honor the hero of the hour:

Helmed by Hèctor Hernández Vicens (The Corpse of Anna Fritz) with a script from Mark Tonderai (House at the End of the Street) and Lars Jacobson, Bloodline is a bold new interpretation of the Romero classic, and it’ll be screening in select theaters from tomorrow, January 5th.

Beyond the heroic zombies, the long-brewing remake also features a ragtag crew comprised of Sophie Skelton, Johnathon Schaech, Marcus Vanco, Jeff Gum (The Vault), Lorina Kamburova (Leatherface, Death Race 4), Nick Loeb, Rachel O’Meara, Debbie Sherman, Luke Cousins, Nathan Cooper, Lillian Blankenship, and Cristina Serafini. Behind the lens, Campbell Grobman Films (Hellboy) produces alongside Jeff Rice.

Day of the Dead: Bloodline crawls into cinemas, VOD and Digital HD tomorrow, January 5th.
