Now that Deadpool 2 is available to pick up digitally (Blu-ray and DVD on August 21st), eagle-eyed comic book fans have spent the past 24 hours combing through each and every frame in the search for possible Easter eggs and secrets.

It’s proven to be a pretty successful treasure hunt, too, what with details of the sequel’s canned Disney/Fox gag emerging online along with confirmation that Ryan Reynolds actually slipped into motion-capture gear to play Juggernaut.

And now, Heroic Hollywood has relayed some new intel pulled from the Deadpool 2 commentary track, in which David Leitch alludes to the fact that the Merc’s custom business card is actually a cute nod to an X-Men character – specifically Red Lotus, a lesser-known Marvel Comics hero.

Yeah, it is a cleared name. I’m not sure, thank God. So, there’s no lawsuit pending.

For those in need of a crash course, a quick Google search reveals that Red Lotus (not to be confused with Fernanda Ramirez/Red Locust), was created by Chris Claremont and Salvador Larroc and is perhaps best known for his ties to Gambit. He’s also a gifted martial artist, which makes him a formidable opponent to anyone who dares get in his way.

Now, you may be wondering how Red Lotus fits into the overall story of Deadpool 2; well, upon further inspection we can infer that Red Lotus is the brains behind the criminal gang that the Merc slaughters during the film’s opening moments. Either that, or he was the one who initially hired Wade Wilson to carry out the deed and remove said gang from existence. So many questions, so few answers…

If nothing else, this is another cute nod to the X-Men lore and further proof that Deadpool 2 is layered with all sorts of comic book secrets and Easter eggs.
