It’s been a tremendously difficult month for Deadpool 2.
Filming on Fox and David Leitch’s comic book sequel ground to a halt two weeks ago when Joi “SJ” Harris, a talented road racer who signed on to double as Zazie Beetz’s Domino, was killed when an on-set motorcycle stunt went awry. The studio immediately shut down production to lend cast and crew members enough time to grieve, and it was during that admittedly brief window of time that the industry’s stunt community slammed Fox producers for what they believed was an avoidable accident.
Whether that is indeed the case is up for debate, but it’s understood Deadpool 2 is back shooting scenes on the streets of Vancouver. To prove it, Twitter user AnimalDesatado has relayed a pair of set photos that all but confirm the Mutant Response Division. First introduced via the X-Men comics, the MRD is a secret group of agents tasked with – yep, you guessed it – rounding up and executing those individuals with special abilities. Their involvement would certainly go some way to explaining that mammoth military truck glimpsed in previous set photos.
But today, the focus has been placed squarely on the MRD troops, as these set photos attest:

Casting-wise, we know T.J. Miller is back, back, back as Wade Wilson’s right-hand crook, Weasel, and Miller is fairly confident that Deadpool 2 is much funnier than the first. Also returning are Morena Baccarin as Vanessa, Brianna Hildebrand as Negasonic Teenage Warhead, Leslie Uggams as Blind Al, Stefan Kapičić as the voice of Colossus, and Karan Soni as Dopinder.
The Merc With a Mouth returns to our screens on June 1st, 2018. But tell us, what do you make of today’s latest Deadpool 2 findings? Indeed, do you believe Marvel’s MRD is a lock for the David Leitch-directed sequel? You can, as always, drop your thoughts and predictions via the comments.
