As expected, due to the tragic death of actor Paul Walker, production on Fast & Furious 7Â has been delayed. The film was set to resume shooting in Atlanta this week but that has now been cancelled and currently, neither Universal nor producer Neal Mortiz have any concrete plans on how/when to proceed.
It’s unclear how much more of the film still had to be shot, and how many more scenes Walker had to do. We do know though that director James Wan had not finished filming and now that Walker has passed away, the script will have to be re-written and scenes will have to be re-shot to factor in the actor’s death.
Fast & Furious 7 was being fast-tracked for a July 11th, 2014 release date, but that obviously won’t happen anymore. A new release date has not been set and at this time, there are no details on how Universal will move forward with the film. Of course, it will still eventually make its way to theatres, but given the fact that the cast and crew need time to grieve, and that production will likely take longer than expected, it might be a while before we see the next instalment in this highly-successful franchise.
We will be sure to keep you posted when we hear more the status of Fast & Furious 7 but for now, our thoughts and prayers are with Paul Walker’s family and friends.
