“You shouldn’t wish your life away,” as many grandparents and great-grandparents are keen on telling their errant offspring. Life is short and we should embrace ever second of the short time offered to us as human beings on this planet. Obviously nobody ever told this to Neal Moritz, producer of Fast & Furious 7.
“Fast & Furious 7?” you cry as you splutter your cereal into your lap. You drop your spoon into the milk, which splashes dramatically. “Fast & Furious 6 isn’t even out yet!” Well, Moritz doesn’t care for your temporal reality, and is already looking into the distant future – “distant” being this Summer.
Check out what the producer had to say below:
Yes, we are gonna film this summer… We have been talking about it for quite a while, because while we’re making any of the Fast movies we’re always talking about what could happen in future Fast films.
He goes on to allay fears that many cinephiles held by promising that even with this accelerated time schedule, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson will still be able to be in the movie:
[Fast & Furious 7] is a new chapter, but The Rock will be involved as well.
Fast & Furious 7 is most definitely a new chapter, literally as well as metaphorically. But new chapters don’t always mean a new cast, especially when someone as prodigiously muscular as The Rock isn’t doing anything at that time. What the film will gain, however, is a new director in the spooky form of James Wan – formerly of the Saw series, and Insiduous. Justin Lin announced his departure from the series having burned himself out having to find different ways for giant men to drive giant cars and look angrily at each other.
Fast & Furious 6 is released on May 17th, hopefully you won’t go through puberty before then. Fast & Furious 7 is will arrive in July 2014. Just allow yourself a minute or two to absorb those words – Fast & Furious 7. What have we become?
