Final Logan Trailer Prepares To Bring The Curtain Down On Wolverine’s Saga

Ever since The Wolverine 3 officially became Logan, we've come to expect a markedly different superhero movie from 20th Century Fox. For one, James Mangold's much-touted threequel is set to stage its world premiere at the 2017 Berlin International Film Festival, while the deluge of monotone photos and promos have built a world that is both bleak and unforgiving.

Spare a thought for Hugh Jackman’s jaded Wolverine, then, who cuts a lonely, world-weary figure in today’s new and seemingly final trailer for Logan. Housed up on the Mexican border, Jackman’s iconic lead spends his days caring for the elderly Professor X, but the advent of Dafne Keen’s Laura (AKA X-23) jolts our grizzled anti-hero out of his self-imposed exile.

Speaking of which, it’s the youngster who really takes the spotlight here, as a significant amount of the footage in Fox’s latest trailer revolves around X-23, and boy does she look like a force to be reckoned with. It’s clear that the studio is pushing the character quite hard as she’ll no doubt go on to have a large role in the franchise once Jackman departs. We’re not sure how exactly she’ll factor into everything just yet, but X-23 is a great new character and should be welcomed with open arms by fans.

For more, here’s the official logline for Logan: “In the near future, a weary Logan cares for an ailing Professor X in a hide out on the Mexican border. But Logan’s attempts to hide from the world and his legacy are up-ended when a young mutant arrives, being pursued by dark forces.” Of course, that only scratches the surface of what’s to come and even after this second, electrifying thriller, we’re still left with a ton of unanswered questions.

On March 3rd, Hugh Jackman and director James Mangold will bring the curtain down on Wolverine’s saga once and for all – you know, barring any U-turns or reboots further down the line. Early buzz for the R-rated threequel has been through the roof, with Ryan Reynolds even going so far as to suggest that Logan could compete in next year’s awards race – not unlike the Merc With a Mouth, then.

But let’s not get too far ahead of ourselves; upon viewing the all-new trailer above, as well as the international version, what are your early impressions going into Wolverine’s grand finale? Do let us know.
