First Shazam! Footage Leaks Onto The Interwebs

Warner Bros. and DC's first promotional footage for Shazam! has leaked on the eve of SDCC, and it even includes a nod to Big.

Not to be outdone by Wonder Woman 1984, Ukraine’s Odessa Film Market has today rolled out the first footage from Shazam!, Warner Bros. and David F. Sandberg’s standalone superhero movie that has been making serious waves of late – not as many as, say, Aquaman, but you get the drift.

The Zachary Levi vehicle is bound for San Diego Comic-Con, too, where we expect to lay eyes on the magical first trailer for Sandberg’s solo movie. And the ongoing EW coverage has left us with just one question: how many days are left between now and April 5th, the date on which Shazam! is pegged for release?

In all seriousness, Warner’s other 2019 tentpole is beginning to generate a ton of buzz online, and down below, you’ll be able to catch an early glimpse at Shazam! in motion. Word is this footage is actually pulled from a larger DC Films showreel promoting everything from Aquaman to WW84, so there’s a good chance SDCC attendees will be treated to something else entirely this Saturday.

The leaked clip can be viewed below, and comes to us by way of Twitter (h/t GeekSite.az):

Here’s a reminder of the journey that awaits young Bill Batson as he’s imbued with the power of the gods – quite literally, we might add, after a mysterious old wizard grants him the wisdom of Solomon, the strength of Hercules, the stamina of Atlas and much, much more…

In the film, Billy (whose younger version is played by Disney Channel star Asher Angel) is assigned to a new foster home where he befriends comic book superfan Freddy. One day, Billy’s subway ride is interrupted by a mysterious Wizard (Djimon Hounsou) whose been searching for ages to find the right successor to inherit his powers. He reveals the teen’s been selected to gain an assortment of abilities, and all it takes is for Billy to say ‘SHAZAM!’

Shazam! lights up theaters all across the globe on April 5th, 2019.
