Hugh Jackman Offers An Update On The Status Of Wolverine 3’s Script

At this year's San Diego Comic-Con, Hugh Jackman appeared and uttered three words which made Hall H explode: "Old Man Logan". How close an adaptation of Mark Millar and Steve McNiven's beloved story Wolverine 3 is going to be remains to be seen, but even if this movie just borrows elements from it, fans of the character still have a long list of reasons to be excited.

Wolverine’s third solo outing will be Jackman’s last appearance as the character, and while he’s yet to officially sign on to star in the movie as he waits on the screenplay to be completed, the actor has now offered an update on where things currently stand (and for those of you fretting that he may decide against reprising the role, it sounds like he’s happy with how things are going).

“I don’t have a start date because, we’re not going to have start dates until we have that script perfect. It matters too much to me, I care too much about the character, about the audience, and when you say it’s going to be your last one… I just want to leave everything on the table, absolutely everything.”

You can’t blame the Australian actor for being cautious; as this is going to be his final appearance as Wolverine, it’s understandable that he wants to go out on a high and would rather not end his time as the iconic mutant by starring in another X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

As of right now, the third Wolverine movie is still scheduled to be released in 2017. That may seem like a long time away, but rumours point to Jackman reprising the role before that with cameo appearance in next year’s Deadpool movie and X-Men: Apocalypse. Fingers crossed.
