Following a crude awakening, it is the arrival of Oscar Isaac’s mythic deity En Sabah Nur that sparks an all-out mutant war. Flanked by his all-powerful Four Horsemen – played by Ben Hardy (Archangel), Alexandra Shipp (Storm), Michael Fassbender (Magneto) and Olivia Munn, who continues to wow in as Psylocke – Apocalypse targets the ruination of man and mutantkind alike.

Of the ensemble cast set to leap onto screen in a few months’ time, Shipp, Isaac and Mumm topline the list of newcomers, joining Game of Thrones‘ Sophie Turner, Tye Sheridan, Kodi Smit-McPhee, and Lana Condor. The X-Men stalwarts, meanwhile, include James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult and Evan Peters as Quicksilver, who’s promising an even more impressive sequence than the one featured in Days of Future Past.

X-Men: Apocalypse hope to bring the curtain down on Bryan Singer’s prequel trilogy with style when Fox’s actioner hits theaters on May 27.

“Since the dawn of civilization, he was worshiped as a god. Apocalypse, the first and most powerful mutant from Marvel’s X-Men universe, amassed the powers of many other mutants, becoming immortal and invincible. Upon awakening after thousands of years, he is disillusioned with the world as he finds it and recruits a team of powerful mutants, including a disheartened Magneto (Michael Fassbender), to cleanse mankind and create a new world order, over which he will reign. As the fate of the Earth hangs in the balance, Raven (Jennifer Lawrence) with the help of Professor X (James McAvoy) must lead a team of young X-Men to stop their greatest nemesis and save mankind from complete destruction.”
