The Prometheus Trailer Is Finally Here

No more leaks or bootlegs, this is it, the official trailer for Prometheus. Ridley Scott has returned to the genre that he helped define and it looks like he's making his return in style. At only about a minute there's really not much shown in the way of plot but we do get a good look at the world Scott has crafted for this sci-fi epic.

No more leaks or bootlegs, this is it, the official trailer for Prometheus. Ridley Scott has returned to the genre that he helped define and it looks like he’s making his return in style. At only about a minute there’s really not much shown in the way of plot but we do get a good look at the world Scott has crafted for this sci-fi epic.

While it is said to be a prequel of sorts to Alien, Scott has stated on several occasions that Prometheus works as a standalone film as well, which is good to hear as I’ve never been the biggest fan of the Alien series.

The trailer may skimp on plot and characters but I do like what I see in terms of atmosphere, production design and just the general eerie/spooky tone of it all. It looks like there will be some legitimate horror elements thrown in as well and really, the whole thing does have me seriously intrigued, especially when you throw in the fact that Scott has stated that the film will deal with some philosophical issues. Slowly but surely Prometheus is moving up on the list of my most anticipated movies of 2012.

Check out the trailer below and let us know what you think.

Ridley Scott, director of “Alien” and “Blade Runner,” returns to the genre he helped define. With PROMETHEUS, he creates a groundbreaking mythology, in which a team of explorers discover a clue to the origins of mankind on Earth, leading them on a thrilling journey to the darkest corners of the universe. There, they must fight a terrifying battle to save the future of the human race.
