At Comic Con this year, we have two competing Snow White films. A couple of days ago we saw Lily Collins in the Snow White film from Tarsem Singh, and today we bring you a first look at the characters from Snow White and the Huntsman, which is directed by Rupert Sanders. This is the film that took ages to cast the particular role of the Huntsman before finally settling on Chris Hemsworth, after Viggo Mortensen and Hugh Jackman turned it down.
The characters look marvellously like they have just walked off the set of Lord of the Rings. I know after that behemoth it’s hard to do anything with a slightly medieval milieu and not look like you’re ripping off Peter Jackson’s epic trilogy but this is scarily close. The shield that Kristen Stewart as Snow White is carrying has emblazoned on to it a tree which looks awfully like the tree of Gondor, which was on the shields of all the soldiers in Return of the King.
However, Charlize Theron as the Queen looks particularly striking and Hemsworth makes a rugged enough Huntsman.
Snow White and the Huntsman is set to start shooting in the fall and has a June 1st release date next year. Check out the rest of the images below.
