Initially pegged to premiere alongside Star Wars: The Force Awakens later this week, the stylish sizzle reel is set against Sabotage by the Beastie Boys – a neat nod back to the original movie – and it gives us a fair indication of what we can look forward to from Lin’s anticipated threequel.

After a German version leaked online, Paramount has pushed out the official teaser for Star Trek Beyond, showcasing a fast and furious adventure for the crew of the USS Enterprise. Ditching the po-faced tone of the first two chapters in the rebooted franchise, today’s sizzle reel is a white knuckle ride from start to finish – from motorbike stunts to Scotty dangling from a cliff – and it only underlines the differing directing styles between J.J. Abrams and series newcomer Justin Lin.

Beyond will see the likes of Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Karl Urban, Simon Pegg, John Cho, Zoe Saldana, Anton Yelchin, and Idris Elba – on board to play the chief villain – go boldly where no man has gone before next summer, and if today’s trailer is any indication, then Lin’s actioner has all the makings of a true summer blockbuster.

With Fast and Furious stalwart Justin Lin behind the lens, Star Trek Beyond will zoom into theaters on July 22, 2016.
