Hayden Christensen Returns As Anakin On Star Wars: Thrawn – Alliances Novel Cover

An SDCC exclusive cover of Star Wars: Thrawn – Alliances has emerged, and it heralds the return of Hayden Christensen as the young Anakin Skywalker.

Before he was Darth Vader, he was Anakin Skywalker, a young boy born into slavery in the Outer Rim.

This journey, one that covers everything from the Battle of Naboo to the Sith resurgence, was told in great detail during Lucasfilm’s Star Wars Prequel Trilogy, though the execution of each chapter – Revenge of the Sith notwithstanding – left much to be desired.

But Anakin’s legacy lives on, and thanks to Star Wars: Thrawn – Alliances, Timothy Zahn’s novel sequel, we now have another glimpse of Hayden Christensen as the young, hot-headed Skywalker. Granted, it’s a Photoshopped gig, as below you’ll see Christensen’s character standing next to the young Thrawn, the fan-favorite Grand Admiral who has since been tipped for a return to Lucasfilm’s movie franchise. The shelved Obi-Wan movie, perhaps?

Whatever the case, here’s a sneak peek at the San Diego Comic-Con exclusive cover for Zahn’s follow-up:

Pegged for a release on July 24th, Thrawn – Alliances ought to be of interest to anyone who picked up the original bestseller, which plunged into the storied relationship between Vader and Thrawn. This latest Star Wars novel rolls back the years further still, all the way to Thrawn’s first encounter with the man who would one day become Darth Vader…

Grand Admiral Thrawn and Darth Vader ally against a threat to the Empire in this new novel from bestselling author Timothy Zahn. The sequel to New York Times bestseller Thrawn, Thrawn: Alliances will continue to follow the rise of Grand Admiral Thrawn to the heights of Imperial power—and accompany him into the past, witnessing his first encounter with the man who will one day become Darth Vader.

Star Wars: Thrawn – Alliances graces store shelves on July 24th, a few days after the unveiling of that exclusive cover at San Diego Comic-Con. Stay tuned for more.
