With the November release date of Thor: The Dark World, the second outing for Marvel's super-powered Norse god, fast approaching, the film studio is noticeably stepping up its marketing campaign. With the November release date of Thor: The Dark World, the second outing for Marvel’s super-powered Norse god, fast approaching, the film studio is noticeably stepping up its marketing campaign. We’ve previously seen a brooding TV spot as well as some major teases by executive producer Craig Kyle about the series’ future, and now the first official clip from Thor: The Dark World has surfaced online.

In one clip, Thor (Chris Hemsworth) is clearly in need of some serious help, as the expression on his face, while he confers with imprisoned megalomaniacal brother Loki (Tom Hiddleston) is beyond pained. “You betray me, and I will kill you,” Thor threatens. “When do we start?” Loki replies with a malicious grin.

Another clip making the rounds online is a featurette that reveals some awesome new action packed footage from the film, while giving some insight into the production, which shot extensively in Iceland as well as in two UK locations, London and Surrey.

Additionally, two action-packed character posters for two of the Warriors Three – Thor’s closest friends and most adept comrades in arms – have debuted online. You can check them out right here, along with the film’s main poster and shots of Thor and Loki:

As per Marvel’s official plot synopsis for the upcoming film:

Marvel’s “Thor: The Dark World” continues the big-screen adventures of Thor, the Mighty Avenger, as he battles to save Earth and all the Nine Realms from a shadowy enemy that predates the universe itself.  In the aftermath of Marvel’s “Thor” and “Marvel’s The Avengers,” Thor fights to restore order across the cosmos…but an ancient race led by the vengeful Malekith returns to plunge the universe back into darkness.  Faced with an enemy that even Odin and Asgard cannot withstand, Thor must embark on his most perilous and personal journey yet, one that will reunite him with Jane Foster and force him to sacrifice everything to save us all.

The film, directed by Game of Thrones‘ helmer Alan Taylor, also stars Natalie Portman, Stellan Skarsgard, Idris Elba, Anthony Hopkins, Christopher Eccleston, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Kat Dennings, Zachary Levi, Ray Stevenson and Jaime Alexander.

Though advance buzz for Thor: The Dark World has certainly been quieter than for other recent superhero films, I find myself increasingly looking forward to Taylor’s addition to the Marvel canon. There’s plenty to be excited for: a deeper dive into the Nine Realms, Christopher Eccleston as the villainous Dark Elf Malekith, a more brooding storyline and sure-to-be spectacular battle sequences.
