Two of the original cast members of the franchise got together yesterday and shared their meeting on their Instagram accounts. Marsden captioned his photo with a fun nod to the rivalry between Logan and Scott Summers: “Ran into an “old friend” early this morning!” he commented, before adding that it was genuinely great to meet up with his old co-star.

Jackman also had a joking tone in the caption for his post. “Our actual height difference revealed,” the Australian actor said simply. This references the fact that, on the set of 2000’s X-Men, Marsden had to wear platform shoes so that he could be face to face with Jackman while filming Logan and Scott’s head-to-head scenes.

As fans surely know, Jackman and Marsden have appeared in four X-Men movies together. After the initial trilogy consisting of X-Men, 2003’s X2 and 2006’s X-Men: The Last Stand, the pair shared the screen again many years later in 2014’s X-Men: Days of Future Past, which united the two generations of X-Men teams together.

After successfully changing the timeline, Wolverine found himself in another version of the future in which Jean Grey and Cyclops were both alive and living happily at the X-Mansion. Unfortunately, this happiness wouldn’t last long though, as all the X-Men were eventually killed off-screen by an ailing Professor X, as revealed in Logan.

Nowadays, Cyclops is played by Tye Sheridan, who will reprise his role in the upcoming X-Men: Dark Phoenix. Jackman, meanwhile, has just hung up his claws. Both characters could soon be rebooted once the X-Men franchise is swallowed by the MCU, but could the new Wolvie and Cyke ever live up to Jackman and Marsden’s double act? Time will tell, but feel free to leave your thoughts down below.
