It’s been nearly four years since we’ve gotten an album from Bruno Mars, but for some reason, it feels like much longer. Of course, we were graced by the brilliance of the Mark Ronson collaboration, “Uptown Funk,” but all that did was keep everyone on the edge of their seat for more. The good news is that the wait for new music may finally be over very soon.
Although it hasn’t been a secret that Mars has been locked away in the studio making new tracks, there’s never been any concrete information on when we can expect it. Back in February, Mars’ engineer Charles Moniz said that completion of a new album was “close” and it’s going to be the “next movement of Bruno.” Meanwhile, bassist Jamareo Artis says an album will be out this year with a tour to follow, and that new material is “groove-oriented.” Additionally, Skrillex has teased working with the pop star, too.
Rumors are swirling around that a lead single is expected out shortly, and music industry website Hits Daily Double says that it could arrive as soon as this week. If a single does end up dropping in the next few days, a new album should be on the horizon, too. Since a Bruno Mars album is the last thing that ever needs any type of campaign surrounding it, it’d be the perfect candidate for a surprise release.
With the singer’s only live performances of the year taking place next month, it won’t be long until we find out what’s in store one way or another.
