Andrew Lincoln Wanted A Nude Scene On Last Week’s Episode Of The Walking Dead

Some actors might be uncomfortable about baring it all on screen in front of millions of viewers, but Andrew Lincoln isn't one of them. In last Sunday's episode of The Walking Dead, Lincoln's Rick Grimes was called on to strip down to almost nothing. But if the actor had his way, he would have filmed the scene stark naked.

Some actors might be uncomfortable about baring it all on screen in front of millions of viewers, but Andrew Lincoln isn’t one of them. In last Sunday’s episode of The Walking Dead, Lincoln’s Rick Grimes was called on to strip down to almost nothing. But if the actor had his way, he would have filmed the scene stark naked.

To jog your memory, season 8, episode 7 “Time For After” saw Rick left in nothing but his underwear by the Scavengers as he was forced to do battle with an armoured walker. “I got to wrestle in boxer shorts all day. It was a really fun fight,” Lincoln commented about the scene. He just has one big regret.

“I was desperate to be naked. But they wouldn’t let me be naked! I said, ‘One take,’ I said, ‘Please, with just the cowboy boots. Let’s do that.’ And for some reason, AMC weren’t completely comfortable.”

If Lincoln had got his wish and been allowed to go au naturel, he had a brilliant idea for how the sequence could wrap up, with a hilarious misunderstanding of the situation.

“Surely Michonne comes to save Rick and sees him naked and he says, ‘It’s not what it looks like!’ I wanted that scene!”

You can see why AMC wouldn’t have been on board with Lincoln’s extreme version of this. But hey, if the actor was so insistent, they could have shot it as a fun alternate version and stuck it on the DVD/Blu-ray release. We’re pretty sure there are a number of TWD fans out there who would have been very interested in seeing Lincoln’s, er, take on the scene.

Be sure to catch The Walking Dead‘s midseason finale, which is set to be both action-packed and emotional, when it arrives on AMC this Sunday, December 10th.
