The Arrowverse's Legion of Doom

Arrowverse Villains Pitched A Legion Of Doom Sitcom To The CW

Though the Arrowverse has many awesome heroes, sometimes the villains manage to steal the spotlight. That was definitely the case back in Legends of Tomorrow season 2 in which the gang faced the Legion of Doom, made up of Damien Darhk (Neal McDonough), Malcolm Merlyn (John Barrowman), Eobard Thawne (Matt Letscher) and, later, Captain Cold (Wentworth Miller). The evil league had great comedic chemistry, too, as the bad guys tried to one up each other every chance they got.

It was so good, in fact, that the cast wanted to see them star in their own spinoff sitcom. As crazy as it sounds, that’s apparently an idea that the actors who brought the Legion to life pitched to the execs at The CW. Matt Letscher made the revelation while talking to Discussing Film, saying:

“[Working on Legends of Tomorrow] was a lot of fun; I had a great time with those guys. And you can tell they’re having fun, too. It was definitely one of those sets that was really easy to work on, everybody was such a pro. …We pitched – multiple times, we pitched – a half-hour sitcom version of Legion of Doom to the powers that be at CW. Nobody’s bitten yet, but I still think there’s a possibility.”

While Arrowverse diehards would watch the heck out of a half-hour Legion of Doom comedy, we don’t think the network is ever going to bite with this one. However, if it was a more serious take on the idea, we could see it potentially happening. There are always new superhero shows coming to The CW – Black Lightning, for example, just began last month – and a series based around a group of villains would be a fresh concept that would stand out in the crowded DC TV landscape.

While we await the return of the Legion of Doom, either to the Arrowverse or in their own sitcom, one half of the group will appear on Legends of Tomorrow‘s midseason premiere – Leonard Snart and Damien Darhk – which airs tonight on The CW.
