As one of the two lead antagonists of Daredevil season 2 opposite Elodie Yung’s Elektra, expect Frank Castle to lay siege to a fair chunk of screentime across the show’s sophomore outing, as he puts Matt Murdock’s moral standing to the test.

In the video embedded above, Bernthal describes the rampaging, gun-toting, unhinged pyschopath as so: “This is an evolution of The Punisher. I dove into this show and I fell in love with this world, with how dangerous it was. It was a world I desperately wanted to play in.”

Also starring Deborah Ann Woll, Elden Henson, and Rosario Dawson, Daredevil season 2 descends onto Netflix in time for March 18. Find out how Matt Murdock’s latest crime-ridden adventure stands up in our review.

Just when Matt thinks he is bringing order back to the city, new forces are rising in Hell’s Kitchen. Now the Man Without Fear must take on a new adversary in Frank Castle and face an old flame — Elektra Natchios.

Bigger problems emerge when Frank Castle, a man looking for vengeance, is reborn as The Punisher, a man who takes justice into his own hands in Matt’s neighborhood. Meanwhile, Matt must balance his duty to his community as a lawyer and his dangerous life as the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen, facing a life-altering choice that forces him to truly understand what it means to be a hero.
